The clients' favourite pastime of playing jigsaw puzzle leads to the idea of an intimate space with interlocking and tessellating of elements coming into play.

Using jigsaw puzzles as the source of inspiration, the concept of interlocking and tessellating elements was employed to create an intimate spatial environment.

The focal point of the house includes the repeated hexagonal tiles against the statement bar counter, with its timber top enveloping a white base, wood grains installed in different directions, and a jigsaw-inspired side profile.

The slanted display shelf in the foreground interlocks with the suspended cabinet to breakaway the standard uninspiring rectangular cabinet. When daylight spills into the living space, repeated diagonal lines could be seen on the surface of the suspended cabinet.

The TV console’s doors were designed with slanted lines and wood grains in varying direction to evoke a sense of fun. Ample storage catered in the TV cabinet and the display shelves helped to breakaway the monotony of the storage doors. Different shades of blue were introduced to the upholstery of the sofa and dining settee, inducing vibrancy to the spatial environment.
