Stepping in, it becomes clear that the couple who have made this cosy flat in Punggol their home have a deep love for cycling and it is tough for anyone to claim otherwise.
Tailor-made to reflect their passion for the sport, one can experience the space through a series of rhythmical forms situated both on the floors and the walls — similar to a bicycle in constant motion — while the clean, white apartment brings about a sense of tranquility and balance.
The foyer is where white space is peppered with bits of colour. The vinyl flooring alternates between a light brown and a soft grey, making its way to the custom made bicycle rack created with a white plywood wall serving as the backdrop. The cycling theme is once again illustrated through the way the plywood planks were laid, reminding one of the couple’s passion for cycling.
A timber frame stands between the living and dining area as a transition point where the rhythmical form of the plywood wall and flooring collide with the geometric shape of the frame. Mirrors were installed to create the illusion of a larger room as well as to elongate the appearance of the frame.
