NARNIA

A home within the home

In the famed fantasy novel, The Chronicles of Narnia, written by C.S. Lewis, nothing is truly what it seems.

Just as a seemingly innocent cupboard hides the portal to a whole new dimension, this two-bedroom apartment, tucked away in a quiet corner of Tanglin, contains a secret passageway to a walk-in wardrobe cleverly disguised as part of a feature wall that stretches to the end of the corridor.

Travelling to and fro the walk-in wardrobe and the master bedroom is made seamless with the addition of the dual access master bathroom that connects the two via a pod-like space — creating the idea of an alternate dimension; a home within the home.

The interior of the wardrobe is lined with large panels of black tinted glass doors to downplay the appearance of clutter.

Colours are used sparingly, keeping the apartment looking minimal and clean-cut, paying homage to Scandinavian-themed interiors that we’ve all come to know and love.

The homeliness within this minimally designed space is maximised with the introduction of neutral tones, such as white, light grey, and beige.

The Scandinavian quality is further perfected by borrowing elements, like the stone-like tiles in the bathroom, from Mother Nature herself — a subtle but effective way of creating a comfortable, warm mood within the home.
