REVERIE

Location: Pending Road
A play on light and shadow, designed for quiet escape

Reverie is the ideal state of being pleasantly lost—a private sanctuary designed to offer refuge from the hustle and bustle of daily life. Housed within a classic HDB maisonette, the residence translates the concept of spatial journey through intentional shifts in volume, material, and tone.

The experience begins at the entry foyer, an intentionally compressed and darkened volume. Bound by deep black walls, black ash cabinetry, dark flooring, and a lowered ceiling, the entrance acts as a palate cleanser for the senses.

Passing through this threshold, the space dramatically opens into the light-filled main living area. Here, a vibrant pantry featuring bold marble stone serves as an anchor. The living and kitchen zones shift entirely into a bright palette—white-washed walls, light wood joinery, and soft grey stone-textured flooring create an expansive, airy feel.

Moving deeper into the home, the dining area transitions back into a muted, moody aesthetic, echoing the dark tiles of the main-floor powder room. Vertical circulation to the second level is handled by a light, minimalist staircase framed by clear glass railings. Upstairs, the private sanctuary unfolds: bedrooms are bathed in soft daylight, while the ensuite bathrooms revert to deep, contemplative dark tones.

By alternating distinct light and dark palettes alongside shifting ceiling heights, Reverie crafts a dynamic spatial sequence that feels like a quiet discovery at every turn.
